The NHS App is a digital tool that allows patients in England to manage their healthcare efficiently. Users can book appointments with their GP, order repeat prescriptions, and access their GP records through the app. To use the NHS App, you must be aged 13 or over and registered with a GP surgery in England. It provides a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on smartphones or tablets.

Online consultations allow patients to communicate with their GP practice digitally, typically using a secure platform. Rather than phoning or visiting in person, patients can submit forms describing their symptoms, request services, or ask questions at their own convenience. Practice staff then triage and decide the best course of action—for example, giving advice, scheduling an appointment, or issuing a prescription

As a parent, family member or carer, you may be able to access services for someone else using linked profiles. This is also sometimes called having proxy access. It needs to be set up by the GP surgery where the Patient is registered, an application form will need to be completed.
